"Are You In Position To Be Blessed?"
"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Heb. 10:25
Today, many have opted to not attend or participate in the local church. Various reasons, such as time, busyness, loss of faith in the body of Christ, television and radio ministries, the list goes on. However, God has given us very specific commands in His Word for why it is important to be a faithful, attending member of the local church. His first reason can be found in Rom. 10:13-14, "For, everyone who calls on the Name of the Lord" will be saved. How then can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?"
Secondly, you are needed in the body of Christ. I Cor. 12:27 says, "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." Paul says in I Cor. 12:21, "The eye cannot say to the hand, "I don't need you!" And the head cannot say to the feet, "I don't need you." And because we are members of the body, we need each other. And that relationship is found in the local church. Then, thirdly, Heb. 10:25 says to, "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing but let encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching." Why the local church? So that we might meet as members of one body, hear the Word of God and encourage one another.
Today, we live in a world of discouragement. And many suffer daily, simply because we fail to carry out this commandment of God. We are not in position. In the games of our society, players on the football team, baseball, basketball, track or any other type of sport must be in position to receive the ball, pass the ball, hit the ball, or run when the whistle goes off. If any player is out of position, they miss the opportunity to score a touchdown, pass the ball, hit a home run or win the race. So it is with us as members of the body of Christ. When we choose to stay home instead of attending church, we miss the many blessings God has in store for us.
What's your reason today? Is it good enough to miss what God has for you? This is my encouragement today, the body of Christ needs you. You are an important member. Someone is waiting for you to encourage them and someone wants to encourage you. So let’s get in position and be blessed!
